Wild Horse PG-13

Cindy looked up into the stars,a faraway look in her brown eyes. She remembered the girl,and she missed her. The day she was put in the ground,and her heart stopped,she woke up. The people thought she was dead,but they hadnt thought of her. Jessica,the girl,had always called her,'Mare Scare,'and she had given her last rear. Jessica had said she would be defiant to the end,and she was. They gave her something to relax her,but when they gave her something so she would sleep,she reared. She didnt want to go down. She wanted the girl who was there for her,cried into her mane,and was gentle to her. Cindy closed her eyes,remembering. Coosa had looked down upon her,Cindy had thought he was dead,he had been dead for a while,or so she thought. It was night time,and she saw Coosa looking down on her,his white blaze glowing softly. She got out of the wide hole somehow,and followed him quietly. They passed their colt,who didnt stir in his sleep,and Cindy looked longingly back at him,but Coosa urged her on. Cindy shook her head,her flaxen mane covering her eye.

Shadow shook his mane, and looked at the two, "Is something wrong?"

Cindy shook her head,"Im fine..."She murmured.

Shadow said, "Are you sure?"

Cindy nodded,"Ill be fine."

Shadow nodded, and turned back to the land and the sky.

-Next Morning-

Cindy was still awake as the first streaks of sunlight made their way over the edge of the horizion. She was standing beside Coosa,and they watched the sky light up with oranges,pinks,and reds.

Wind shook himself awake as the dew caught the first rays of sun,and sparkled in his eyes.

Shadow barely got any rest that night. When the sun came, he saw the threesome of carnivores come back.

Wind shivered at the thought of what their meal had been the night before.

Scorn paced,shaking his mane out. Some part of him wanted to help those horses,the other wanted to be loyal to the humans.

Twilight laid down, he seemed tired. His whole body drooped.

Wind nudged the wolf,"You okay,Carnivore?"He asked.

Twilight groaned, "I'm not sure."

Wind asked,"Does anything hurt?"

Twilight grunted, "A few..."

"Like what?"He asked.

Twilight pulled himself to his feet, "Don't worry about me." He shifted his body, a small glisten of blood caughting the light for a half second. If you looked closely, it showed on all three of them, but not extremely heavy.

Wind nudged him,"Lay back down,now. I wont take no for an answer,and dont even think about being stubborn."He had smelt the blood,and was worried about his carnivorous friend.

Twilight said, "It's not something rest can help. We have to get going. The humans aren't far away." Twilight's mind pounded as he remembered gun shot and pain like fire.

Wind nodded,and called the horses to wake them up. Storm nudged Simi when he heard Wind,and stood up,shaking out his coat.

Simi lifted her head, and shoke her mane. She stood up slowly. Snow trotted over to the elderly horse.

Azane nudged Breeze and Kiola up. The two were ready quickly.

Wind nodded quickly,"Good,everyone ready?"He asked.

Storm nodded,as did Cindy,Coosa,Star,and Cherry.

Simi nodded, watching Kiola race by her. He seemed more than ready to go.

Twilight stood in front of Wind, with Sioe and Spirit near by.

Azane trotted up to her mate with Breeze by her side.

Shadow stood alone to the side of the herb, but he was ready.

Scorn tossed his head,they would soon be upon the herd,and he would have his revenge. The human on his back urged him faster,and Scorn obliged.

Wind urged the herd on,his back tingling.

Azane quickly followed him, Breeze brushing her side.

Twilight used his wings as little as he could, though he needed the suport. But he didn't in consideration of his pack mates.

"Do whats best for you."Wind nudged the wolf,then surged ahead.

Cindy and Coosa stayed near the back,protecting the herd as best as they could.

Storm hurried along,trying to help support Simi.
