Wild Horse PG-13

Breeze looked back, and gave a glance at Sundancer. She tossed her head sideways, then looked back at Wind. Soie looked at Sundancer,"Isn't Wind your father? Why not greet him?"

Sundancer looked over, he had totally forgoten that he was pretending to be Azane's son. For some reason he couldn't bring himself to pretend to be happy and greet Wind. He was weighed down with sorrow.

Soie laughed,"I know you aren't their son. You don't look a thing like them, and they know a bit more about the magical things in this world. And not as jumpy at humans as you are. But she said you were her son, and that means you are. So, Wind Feather's your father. You're a herd now, don't die out because of the past, but keep hold of the present, and look forward to the future."

Sundancer sighed he knew Sioe was right. There was just a part of him that couldn't let go until he knew. He had to find out what had happened, then he could let go.

Soie nudged the colt,"Just act happy, or you hurt his feelings." He grinned, and laid back down.

Sundancer smiled, the last thing he wanted to do was hurt Winds feelings.

Wind smiled at everyone.He dipped his head to the wolf,panther,and fox.

Soie nodded, and Wind Spirit dipped her head in respect. Twilight remained unchanged, but he was deep in thought. Breeze nuzzled her father, and Azane nuzzled him as well, but finally stepped back,"Twilight says he know the way through these plains, and there is a birch woods on the other side."

Wind nodded,"So,is everyone ready to travel?Carnivores?"He looked towards the wolf,fox,and panther with a smile.

Star Night trudged on,his "master" lashing the whip.Scars and welts showed clearly on his blue back.

Cherry Pit looked out from her barred window.She wished she could whinny and let them,Star Night and Simi,know she was alive,she was here!!But she kept her mouth quiet,for fear of being killed,them being punished,or her being put to work in the mines.

Storm sighed,this would never work,then he noticed movement.A horse fell to it's knees,then rolled over onto it's side.Breathing heavily.It's breath coming in shallow gasps.Blood oozing out of raw welts on it's back,shoulders,neck,and head.His legs scraped and scratched.He looked at his mother for reassurance,but she was paying no attention,her head down,trying not to notice who it was.The horse wouldn't get up,and when the owner got down from where he sat atop the coal heap the poor horse was hauling,to kick it in the stomach,the horse just grunted as he was kicked several times.Then,the human went to get a gun,and shot it between the eyes,Storm looked away just before the gun went off,ending yet another life.He was happy,yet very very sad for the horse.At least it had escaped this horrible hole in the ground.

Rainwater didn't want to think about what happened,so she kept working.As the horse was dragged out,she noticed it was a 3 year old,a friend of Storm's,they were born on the same day.It's white star on it's forehead oozing blood out the center.

Shadow Knight pulled the heavy load. He saw Snow Crystal on the other side, her coat was full of dirt. He frowned. Soon their plan would be in action, soon....

Simi winned, and trudge along. She look left to right when she heard gun fire. She had heard a whisper amoung the horses of a plan of escape. With a doubting heart, she looked for a black stallion, with a fire in his eyes that never died, or a misty mare who seemed to leap from the dews of the morning. Or at least, those were the whispers.

Azane nodded, and Breeze stood ready. Twilight stood at a leading point, waiting for Wind to begin. Soie and Spirit took up rear and side flanks.

Sundancer stood next to Breeze.

Storm reared up,he whinnied,and kicked.He jumped away,the cart rattling after him.The human had gotten off to chat with another human,and he had taken this moment.He whinnied,he ran towards another horse,trying to get the humans to chase him.

Star Night somehow found his way to Simi."What are you looking for?"

Wind started off at a brisk walk.

Azane followed Wind. Twilight was walking at a fast pace, and said,"Keep it up, and the birches will be in sight by tommorrow."

Simi replied,"There are whispers. Two horses here are planning an escape, and all they need it a gap, and we'd be free. I near it's tonight, when the moon is full, the humans drink, and are out of their wits. And tonight that will be heavy, for it is the humans' master's birthday. This chance won't come again for another year. Any strong enough to fly can, all they have to do is find the drivers, as they call themselves, a stallion and a mare."

Star Night nodded,"Simi,we must help him!!"Star Night looked to see humans running after the horse.One had a gun.

Rainwater threw herself in front of the bullet coming after Storm.It hit her in the should and she fell.Hard onto the ground.She whimpered.

Star Night looked stricken at the mare.

Wind nodded,"Can we go faster,Breeze,Sun?"

"Yeah!" Sundancer was well rested and ready to go faster.

Wind brought it up to a brisk trot.

Breeze smiled and started to trot to.She almost whinnied with joy as the wind was blowing on her pricked ears.

Simi jumped out to help the colt. She felt a surge of pain as the whip came at her, and heard the human wind it up for the second. She tired to outrun him, but she couldn't. When she heard it coming done, the pain never came. A black stallion, with a night black mane and tail stood in the way. Red mingled with black on his coat, and Simi took the chance to help the foal. She jumped, and landed on the gun, breaking it in two. Another man came with a whip, but it was again blocked by the black stallion.

Snow Crystal raced over to Rainwater, and knelt beside her. The humans left, it was the hot noon, and Snow didn't have long. She offered her body to help Rainwater up.

Simi watched as the humans walked away, no longer instreasted in the horses, only in caring for themselves. Simi turned to the stallion, and dispite his pain, his eyes still burned with the fire of the wild. She knew this was the main consperitor.

Remmy shivered in her stall. Something wasn't right, others were in danger.

Rainwater staggered to her feet."Th-thank you."Then whispered,"Are you the one to help us escape?my son wants to help you...."She drew up her foot and left the weight off it.

Storm raced back to his mother."Thank you.I want to help.you.no one but you guys would stand up against them.They're to afraid."

Snow nodded,"One of them. Shadow Knight thought most of it up."

Confused, Kiola stopped, and listened.

Shadow Knight looked at Star Night and Simi,"Are you alright?"

Star Night nodded,"I am fine....You Simi?"

Rainwater and Storm nodded.

Simi nodded,"As good as ever."

Remy kicked at her stall door and to her suprise it flew open she ran out and continued without looking back, fearing that she would not be able to leave if she did.

Cherry Pit heard the door slam open,and humans enter."We need to know what the others look like!now!"She told them the old looks of them.

Remy ran as hard as she could and soon found herself in a plain full of tall grass. She kept running.
